Fairview Man Arrested for Shooting Dog

A man was arrested by Williamson County deputies after shooting a family dog that wandered near his property. The dog’s owner was not far from sight. Police have charged the man with aggravated animal abuse. Read the entire story online at the News Channel 5 website here.

Pit Bull Survives Crossbow Shot

A Mount Pleasant man has been arrested for allegedly shooting a six-month-old pit bull with a crossbow. According to WSMV, the dog, Bo, required emergency surgery last week after the arrow punctured his lung.

The Columbia Daily Herald reported that police arrested William McQuilling, 28, whose girlfriend lives next door to Michael Fields, the dog’s owner.

McQuilling has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty.

Spring Hill Resident Charged with Cruelty to Animals

A Spring Hill resident faces animal cruelty charges in court next week after police found the man’s Rottweiler dead at the end of his chain, unable to reach food or water. A necropsy report confirmed that the dog died of malnutrition. (more…)

Puppy Mill Bill is Passed

The Humane Society of the United States applauds Tennessee legislators for passing legislation that requires basic humane care standards for dogs kept at abusive puppy mills, and requires that these mass dog producing facilities operate as legitimate businesses, subject to licensure and inspection. The Tennessee Commercial Breeder Act (H.B. 386/S.B.258) passed both chambers by wide margins of 93 to 3 in the House and 26 to 2 in the Senate. (more…)

Hendersonville Veterinarian Charged With Improper Euthanization
