MACC Takes Steps Toward Better Procedures

After a shelter worker mistakenly euthanized a family dog under temporary bite quarantine this week, Metro Animal Care and Control is stepping up efforts to create a better procedure for animal identification.

“We made a mistake with this dog and we’re heartbroken — heartbroken for the dog and the owner and, frankly, for the staff, because certainly everyone here is very committed,” MACC director Judy Ladebauche said in a statement to the press. She added that this was the first time such a mistake has been made during her 10 years at the shelter.

Humane Strategies to Purchase Property in Springfield, TN for Temporary Transport Shelter

Humane Strategies, a charitable organization based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, announced it is seeking to purchase 18-acres of property along Woodrow Wilson Road in Springfield, Tennessee, for a small, state-of-the-art kennel to serve as an overnight stopover for dogs traveling on the Rescue Waggin’ vehicle.
