It’s official: I’m haute stuff! In July, yours truly strutted the catwalk (more like dogwalk) at Agape Animal Rescue’s Glitter & Glam fashion event to support canine rescue.
Hosted by actress/singer Jana Kramer and the AntMan (a DJ at The Big 98), the fundraiser was held at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel. Posh pups (like moi) and stylish humans sported nifty designs by the legendary country fashion designer Manuel Cuevas.
What’s it like to be a model? It’s fabulous, I tell you, but it’s not all glitz and glamour. This modeling stuff is hard work! Sit here, stay there, walk this way. It paid off in the end, as the crowd found me fairly irresistible, of course.
It was a busy day from the start. First, all human and dog models reported backstage so we could meet each other. It turns out that my walking partner was the AntMan, who I have to say was pretty cool. I tried on my outfits (two silk and satin vests designed by Haute Puppy Couture for Bitch New York), and I’ll admit it: I looked like a stud. My first look was a dressy black and grey number and my second was a colorful vest with hot pinks and oranges, but hey, that’s okay—because real men wear pink. Woof!
Us dogs had our own staging area too. Two tables housed our outfits, collars and leashes. There were several chairs and a bowl kept full of water behind each chair. Before the show, I got to hang out backstage with my favorite pup pals Jimmy Cho, Picasso, Rock, Titus, Smiley and Zane. Two of my gal pals, Jazz and LuLu, were there too. You can imagine the barking that went on amongst that crowd of party animals… BOL (Barking Out Loud)!

Smiley was the rock star of the night and the attention was well-deserved. Remember the Wire-Haired Terrier mix that Animal Rescue Corps (ARC) rescued last Valentine’s Day? The cover star of our spring issue of Nashville Paw? Well, after being fostered by Agape, he went on to find the most awesome forever family—along with a good bit of fame! To make the night even better, ARC president Scotlund Haisley gave a talk about animal rescue and even walked in the fashion show.
The red carpet was next on the agenda and it was everything I’d dreamed of. I wore my velvet bow tie embellished with a rhinestone and mom was rockin’ in her original Manuel jacket with gorgeous embroidery and jewels. She also wore her new colorful Suzani Styles boots, which matched the jacket perfectly. (The puparazzi loved it.) See you there next year!
