Elephant Sanctuary Fun Run


The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee will celebrate the birthday of Billie, the 21st elephant to retire to The Sanctuary, on Saturday, October 12th by hosting a 5.1K fun run and birthday party in Hohenwald.

The fun run will kick off at 8:00 a.m. from the CB&S bank parking lot in downtown Hohenwald and finish behind The Elephant Sanctuary Welcome Center. Following the run, The Sanctuary will throw a birthday party for Billie in the Welcome Center from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The party will include cake, hands-on activities, live streaming video of the elephants in their habitat, and a presentation from Billie’s Caregivers at 2:30 p.m.

Runner registration will be on Friday, October 11th, 11:00 a.m.to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 12th, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. at the Welcome Center. Participants will receive a t-shirt, a finisher’s medal, a ticket to the Hohenwald Pilot Club’s pancake breakfast being held after the race, and other assorted goodies. Participants are encouraged to sign up for the run by September 30th on our website at www.elephants.com/billie/BillieBirthday.php.

The run is being organized in partnership with the City of Hohenwald’s Oktober Heritage Festival, October 11th and 12th. The festival includes a Car and Truck Show, live entertainment, arts and crafts, food, and a free Kids’ Corner. Visit www.hohenwaldlewischamber.com for more information on the festival.

This is a FUN run. Everyone is invited to participate, no matter what their skill level. Bring your kids! Bring your dogs! Bring a smile! All proceeds from the race will go towards the ongoing care for Billie and all of our elephants. There will be no elephants at these events.
