On Wednesday, August 3, Animal Rescue Corps (ARC) assisted the Portland Police Department in a rescue of over 130 exotic birds living in horrendous conditions at an alleged exotic bird mill in Portland, TN in Sumner County.
As many of you know, in addition to my role as publisher of Nashville Paw, I am also a rescuer with ARC and was honored to assist on site at the extraction throughout the day, along with more than 50 dedicated rescuers, EMS workers, law enforcement officers and volunteers. The animals are now being cared for at our emergency shelter at the fairgrounds by a small group of pre-qualified volunteers, where I am serving as Volunteer Manager with Kat Martin, under the direction of Peg Petrelli, our TN State Liaison and Shelter Director.
To add to the mix, last night (Tuesday) ARC was called to assist Bedford County Animal Control with the rescue of 4 macaque monkeys found to be living caged in deplorable conditions. The monkeys will soon be transported to a sanctuary. You can read more about the rescue here.

We will be posting additional photos, videos and updates on these rescue at our Facebook Page... so like our page for further details.

We have filled our need for volunteers and pet supplies at this time. Any donations of sports drinks, water and snacks for the volunteers are greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at the Banquet Hall at the TN State Fairgrounds.
Of course, missions like these are only possible thanks to your financial support! You can make a donation here. We greatly appreciate your help for the animals!
