BY ANNA RAITT
Safari Pet Resort has been providing superior pet care for nearly forty years. In 1978, pet groomers Richard and Susan Cleveland (then newlywed graduates of MTSU) opened Cuts Limited Kennels, offering pet grooming, overnight care for dogs and cats, and professional pet photography. As Murfreesboro grew, the Clevelands began to develop a unique hope and dream for Middle Tennessee pet families: they wanted to create a place where pets could go on vacation every day—a new concept in pet care in the 1980’s. Their hope was that while pet parents were busy at work, home or on vacations of their own, their precious pets could relax with a soothing massage bath, play with other four-legged friends and rest in comfortable, private rooms. In July 1999, the Clevelands realized this dream with an expanded and renovated destination for pets: Safari Pet Resort, “Where Pets Go On Adventure.”
Happy, Active Pets
Over the years, the Clevelands continued to add more services and activities designed specifically for the pets’ enjoyment. Today, Safari’s services cater to every pet, including exquisite pet grooming; premium overnight lodging and luxury suites for dogs and cats; proven obedience training; fun doggie daycare; free Adventure Bus pet pick-up & delivery; live Webcam viewing; free birthday celebrations, “Pup-Crafts,” and holiday parties; USA-made natural, holistic pet food; customizable activity options for dogs and cats of every energy level; and daily wellness checks for all pet guests and more.
Saltwater Swimming Pool
Our Lagoon Swimming Pool (pictured above) opened in 2012 and is the area’s first and only in-ground saltwater swimming pool for dogs! And pups can still dive on in for free—swim time is complimentary with doggie daycare and most overnight lodging packages.
NEW Luxury Garden Suites
The Garden Suites, Safari’s newest addition, might just take your breath away. The fully renovated indoor garden village just opened in March and offers pets the ultimate vacation. Each private suite has a relaxing view of the indoor gardens, which feature palm trees, trickling waterfalls, the sounds of singing birds and even a canopy of starry lights at night! In addition to the garden setting, pups staying in these suites enjoy all-day amenities, like multiple playtime sessions, an afternoon walk, raised beds and even a bedtime massage with calming room mist, handcrafted by the Boro’s own MoonDog Handmade Goods.
A Family of Pet Lovers
Customers love how Safari staff knows their pets by name and treat them just like family! Safari seeks out the best, most compassionate animal lovers to make up its growing staff of more than forty team members, including the Cleveland’s own daughters—Margarette (Salon Supervisor) and myself, Anna (Marketing). Serving Tennessee pet families for nearly forty years, we are all honored to get to do the work we love every day.
