Burning Calories with your Pooch Pal

CONTENT SPONSORED BY TWO MEN AND A TRUCK

Here at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Nashville, our movers love their jobs because they get to “earn while they burn” …calories out in the field! But our move consultants, marketing specialists, and other office staff sit all day long. Fortunately, we all have dogs that help us get outside and stay active when we get home. Need to move more? Here are five different ways we like to be active with our pets.

Yoga with Fido:
That’s right—you can do yoga with your dog! This is a favorite activity of our sales representative Mathew. He lives in Bellevue, so he and his pup visit Harpeth River Park to practice their doga. If you’re interested in trying this out, Mathew recommends reading Doga: Yoga for Dogs, by Jennifer Brilliant and William Berloni. There's also a cool post about it here.

Swimming with Spot:
Our marketing director Jenni, lives in Hermitage and loves to take her fur baby to Percy Priest Lake during the summer. You can also check out Harpeth River on Vaughn’s Road for an alternate swimming hole. But, read these swim safety tips first!

Rollerblading and Biking:
These two activities are a little higher on the difficulty scale for dog parents, because they require more coordination with a well-behaved dog. We definitely wouldn’t recommend trying rollerblading or biking with a brand new adopted pet or hyperactive puppies. However, if you and your dog are accustomed to training together for marathons or other intensive activities, this is a super fun challenge!

Stand Up Paddling:
Stand-Up Paddling (or SUP) is another cool challenge you can take on with your pooch. If your pup enjoys the water and hanging out by your side, try your hand at taking him along on your next paddle boarding adventure. If you don’t have your own paddle board, Nashville Paddle Company is located right on Percy Priest Lake, and Paddle Up Nashville is on the Cumberland River in West Nashville. Both offer classes and welcome your furry friend to ride along. Read more about local paddling with your pooch in our blog post here.

Running, Hiking and Walking:
All of our office staff loves utilizing the many greenway trails in Nashville!  Our quality control manager, Keith, likes walking his dog along the Shelby Bottoms Greenway, but you can visit the Metro Government of Nashville’s website (nashville.gov) to find the greenway trail closest to you. Just make sure you bring along a bag or two to clean up any “business” your dog makes along the way! Read about three local waterfalls to hike with your pup on our blog here.

Even though staying “on the move” with your dog can be fun, leave your heavy-item moving to the professionals! If you’ll be moving to a new home this summer, give us a call (or text) at 615-248-6288 or visit twomenandatrucknashville.com!  Mention this Nashville Paw article for $25 off your next move.
