I am sobbing as I post this.
Today, I watched the videos below, and I learned about a dog named Khalessi.
I am sobbing because I am so incredibly happy to see this sweet pit bull finally experience the love, care and devotion she so desperately desires.... and sobbing because I cannot begin to fathom the level of torture, suffering and fear she experienced at the hands of her abuser.
At just over a year old, the tiny, 15-pound pit bull was found dumped in a yard on August 8, 2015 and rescued by Passion 4 Pits, a nonprofit pit bull rescue in St. Petersburg, FL.
According to one news report, she had likely been used as a fighting dog and was beaten repeatedly with a blunt object -- perhaps a baseball bat -- then left for dead. Her broken, now deformed hind legs make walking difficult. But she'll still happily hurry over to you for a kiss. Her ribs and back were broken. Her nose (nearly half her face, in fact) has been savagely ripped from her.
And yet... she wags her tail. She trusts freely. She was maimed by humans, and yet... she still adores humans. She loves without holding back... and without judgement.
Will you do the same? If you have ever judged a pit bull based on negative stereotypes, will you watch these videos below, let her abuse sink in, then recognize that despite being mercilessly tortured by a human, she wishes to harm NO ONE. She simply, only, wants LOVE.
Next time you see a headline screaming something like "Pit Bull Maims Human", remember that all dog breeds can bite... and that most of the time, it's the other way around: it is humans who are maiming pit bulls.
Together, we must stand up for these dogs and fight to save their reputations and their place in our homes. Their lives depend on it.
Badly beaten dog will get new nose
This innocent dog with the wide eyes and open heart has been to hell and back in the short year of her life. Her name is "Khaleesi" and she has no nose. It was savagely removed during the endless torture she suffered. Read more: http://www.koaa.com/story/29834121/badly-beaten-dog-will-get-new-nosePosted by KOAA 5 on Wednesday, August 19, 2015

Thank you isn't enough for all the love, well wishes, donations, visits and everything else ❤️❤️ I know all of us at Passion 4 Pits wish that we could thank every single one of you in person but that would require a lot of traveling :). One of the biggest questions we get is "how does she eat?" Well here's a video from yesterday having a much deserved treat!#khalessistrongPosted by Khalessi on Sunday, August 16, 2015
